The Blue Walrus

Here comes the Sun

First of all I feel I should apologise for having not posted in a couple of weeks, but I have exams (basically finals – but with some more next year – fun!) which I am now over half way through and have a little break. I’ve been distracting myself by maxing my credit card on flights to celebrate the summer.

In that vain, and with the beautiful sunshine coming through my window I thought it was high time I would stick together a summer mix. There will be more over the coming weeks and months, but this is to get everyone in the mood to sit in the garden or on the beach with some pimms, some cider and generally getting lashed in the sun.

This mix includes some great new unsigned acts such as Sean Wilde with his Hot Chipesque electro, a track from the awesome Friends of the bride that has best been described as indie soul, the beautiful songwriting of the Swedish band Laura (with the song from the Saab biodiesel TV ad), and the catchy talents of Laura Marling. It also features one of my favourite bands of the last couple of years, Voxtrot, as well as a couple of great covers by The Subways and the late great Nina Simone and some other fantastic happy/summer tunes besides.
