What a few months it has been. I apologise to those that have sent emails unanswered and similar, but I have finally finished listening to the backlog of music and have made this mixtape with what I think have been the highlights that I have missed while I was away travelling the Middle East (This was actually delayed for an exra week due to my laptop finally giving up the ghost). The trip was just awesome, seeing deserted sights and meeting amazing people throughout Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Israel. Eventful it was – hit up the photos on facebook. Onto this mix for all those that I have promised this too for far too long.
The Glimmers offer up one hell of a laid back grooving bassline. Sit back, chill, cool as fuck – if a little like the way a porn movie soundtrack should be.
The Virgins have something alittle more traditionally rock-n-roll-like. There is some nice growling bluesy guitar with vocals that remind me of Louis XIV from their last album. Simple, yes, but somehow still very engaging.
Sky Larkin have been on and off my stereo for the past year, but they have decided to share their 2007 single Molten, which sums up their fantastic femal vocal led indie pop so it is only fair it made this mix. If you like it sign up to their mailing list
Guildean Gang have produced some happy london indie pop-rock. All the good parts of the Libertines without the drugged-out drones.
White Denim have been waiting to go on a playlist since the last Snazzy compilation was made (forever ago). But I have finally got a chance to share them with you. Awesome prospect. Attitude and fast paced. Awesome.
Pony Pony Run Run have previously been featured on here with a remix on Electricity Vo.7, but they are still not getting the attention they deserve for catchy stynth-pop.
Boy Crisis give some dance rhythm and guitar stabs and repetitive bassline with almost dreaming vocals, forming more synth pop perfection.
Pacific! continue along the 80s influenced synth pop. This could be a soundtrack from 1984, familiar and yet now.
The Faint are starting to get some attention again (this is their first new stuff for quite a while), and well deserved, for they are putting out some cracking tunes dance worthy synth-rock. Someone needs to do a better remix of this though (maybe ROGERSEVENTYTWO or Danger??)
Van She are another that are getting a well deserved reputation for danceable indie synth-rock. Expect big things from these guys. Now.
Whitey should be releasing a new album soon as well, which can’t come soon enough. I refound Stay on the Outside from Kitsune Maison 4 whilst my ipod was shuffling, and to come back and find some newer stuff is awesome. How is this guy not massive. Catchy and cool. damn.
Archangel created a song which moves from almost dream-pop with a beat into, straight-up pop with a chorus that is just permanently stuck in my head.
White Lies are starting to get the attention they deserve. They have pulled the best parts of Interpol and the Editors together into a perfectly formed package that has parts almost reminiscent of the early good Killers. They will be everywhere. Again if like this join their mailing list

I would like to add a good luck to Derek from GoodWeatherForAirstrikes, one of the people who got me started in this music blogging thingy, and who has just started a record label by the name of Neon Gold
