The Blue Walrus

Baby Monster – Ultra Violence and Beethoven

Baby Monster

I finally got the chance to see Baby Monster live last week when they were over from the States at the ever decent Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, as they did a few shows before the single drops on Monday (09/11) and they have a fucking great live sound. They only played a handful of tracks, but there was enough there for me to be damn excited for when they finally get and EP or album out. They apparently have nine songs pretty much finished so that shouldn’t be too long hopefully. The risk that they may have sounded a too much like MGMT was quickly put out of my mind as the darkness and depth really shines through on stage. It was good to see the guys at our Halloween party as well of course…

So, with the single dropping on Monday I thought now would be a good time to remind you all of how good they are with a couple of remixes by Mondkopf and Arveene & Misk.

Mondkopf draws out the dark industrial influences of the original and takes them centre stage, pushing the uplift and hope in the original to the side. In contrast, Arveen & Misk take the song on a pop-styled electro journey. Both definitely worth a listen or three.

On a side note, Sir Yes Sir were also on the bill that night, and put on a great show of good ‘ole damn fine and energetic indie rock n roll. Ones to watch I think.
