If you looked at that title and your reaction was “What the fuck is Aberfeldy?”, your first thoughts about a very lovely new band of that name were exactly the same as mine. In fact, Aberfeldy is a Scottish burgh, and they produce some mighty fine Scotch. Don’t you love Google? Now that we’ve all recovered and are well-informed, I’ll digress.
In a rare turn of events, Aberfeldy are a band that grabbed me and forced me to fall in love with them after one lazy and effortless listen to their track ‘In Denial’, and to give them the opportunity to do the same to you, it’s included as a free MP3 download below.
Aberfeldy make interesting and diverse folk-pop sounds that fall somewhere between the early London nu-folk wave – Noah And The Whale and such, before bluegrass got involved – and gorgeous, mopey alternative American sounds. Wherever you classify the tunes, I loved them on first listen and I still love them now.
