I can’t believe I have been missing out on the indie pop wonders for so long! I can only agree with Sean Adams of Drowned in Sound fame who claimed they were “one of the most thrilling new bands I’ve seen in years”. There might be easy comparisons with Cocteau Twins which have been discussed plenty in other publications, but such pigeon-holing doesn’t do them justice. The melodies and rhythms fall along softly and sweetly, but it is singer Sarah Hall that steals the show. Her singing voice has an almost Scandinavian twinge to, which isn’t something you’d expect from a Newcastle lass, but it is her soaring vocals and on-stage energy that had me transfixed. Yes I developed quite the crush on her, but if you see them live I can guarantee you will too.
