From their photos I was honestly expecting The Good Natured (Facebook/MySpace) a.k.a Sarah McIntosh et al, to display only a wall of ‘goth’ distortion and warblings, no musical talent and for them to be bezzies with Faras from the Horrors. However, much to my dismay, it sounds the complete opposite. McIntosh’s voice is a cross between Sophie Ellis Bextor and Marina and the Diamonds. You will probably stop reading there, dismissing my musical integrity by attempting to promote some shit, femidom synth pop for my own gains and not for the greater good. If that is the case, it’s your own loss really.
The Good Natured do sound like the more poppy, less androgynous version of La Roux, which instead of crying on about unrequited love in EACH AND EVERY SONG (ahem) enjoy, amongst other things, ‘dancing like fire’ and magic kisses. It’s dead catchy, a little dark sounding for pop but a crowd pleaser. It’s not going to be groundbreaking and it’s definitely going to be a firm favourite in Tiger Tiger but it’ll be your dirty little secret. I bet you. I can’t bet you anything as I have nothing but I bet you.
The Good natured are playing at the Hoxton Bar & Grill on 20th July.
