If you thought that youthful sophistication was an oxymoron then this is the band which proves you wrong. It’s not only the lyrical content that is complex and intelligent, it’s the way that every instrument seamlessly, and at times effortlessly, flows to produce such an ambient, atmospheric and powerful sound. Fieldhouse’s E.P offers a multitude of different sounds from We’re Not In Love, which sounds like a mixture between Mogwai and Ultrasound’s Stay Young, to Honest To God- a song that could rival any indie-pop song being blasted from the radio at the moment. Blitzkrieg is a track that leads you on a false path of atmospheric security as it falls into a cataclysmic end of cymbals and shouts from lead singer, Lewis, of an apocalypse so it’s quite an apt title and end. If you honestly sit down, with BIG earphones and attentively listen to both lyrics and the musicianship you realise that these guys are geniuses.
If Fieldhouse don’t get snapped up soon, I’ll shout from the roofs of Liverpool myself and maybe even send a letter to the Prime Minister.
