The Blue Walrus

Tourist – Jupiter

This just in: Tourist has revealed himself to have out-of-this-world ambitions. The second song to be lifted from his self-titled EP, which is out on March 12th, and, may I add, is very, very good – I don’t like being that guy, but it’s my duty to give our readers a heads-up on a release as thrilling as that – is called Jupiter, and is a good indicator of the quality that is evident on the EP. Much like Placid Acid before it, it doesn’t mess around, going straight for the jugular with a bright and vibrant synth line, relying on handclaps and percussion to provide the extra kick that the song benefits from. It’s the sort of song that could become a big deal very quickly if given the right amount of exposure, and much the same thing can be said of Tourist himself – where the hell was he hiding this talent? He took some time to switch from doing remixes that hinted at it, to producing original material that revealed he’d been hiding an ace up his sleeve for a while, but I, for one, am very glad indeed that he’s done it. Tracks like this should surely have his name up in lights very soon indeed.
