Fossil Collective – Let It Go

Evidently, Fossil Collective [Twitter/Facebook] value the visual side of their band as much as they do the actual music. Up above is the artwork for the forthcoming Let It Go EP, which is out on June 11th, and here is the video for the title track and lead single:

Both are of a very high standard – I’m sure you’ll agree – and then there is the song itself: four-and-a-half minutes of delicate psych-pop with a folk twist, that relies most of all on some spine-tingling harmonies from the two core members of the band – Jonny Hooker and David Fendick – that help to lend the song a very special sort of atmopshere. I can’t choose which of the song’s three elements I like the most, now I think about it: its stop-motion animation video; its eye-catching artwork; or its spellbinding beauty. This Leeds group really are the full package, and it will be very interesting indeed to hear what the rest of the EP has to offer. Even though FC’s main players are both multi-instrumentalists, a song like this is so intricately-layered that it requires at least, oh, five people to recreate live – so it’s fortunate that the live band, which is undertaking a two-week headline tour in late May and early June, is indeed a quintet; a Fossil Collective collective. Are you getting excited about these guys yet?!
