Benjamin Francis Leftwich [Twitter/Facebook] is having a busy year. He’s got a whole load of festival dates coming up, a European tour in September, and a huge UK tour follows that almost immediately. On top of that, he’s been in the studio lately, working on a new EP with a full band that will probably see the light of day before his October UK jaunt (we hope). He has also (phew, can’t fault the man’s work ethic!) recorded a Beatles cover for the Yellow Submarine Resurfaces tribute CD that’s available with this month’s MOJO magazine. He was commissioned to tackle With a Little Help From My Friends, and the result has been made available as a free download. It’s a stripped-down take on the song, featuring Ben, his guitar, and some backing vocals. Those of you hankering for some full-band stuff will need to wait a little longer: he recorded this cover whilst touring the States recently, and a fine job he’s done of it, too.
