Errors – Relics

Don’t you just love surprises? Having released the predictably excellent Have Some Faith in Magic back in January, the Scottish electro trio Errors [Twitter/Facebook] didn’t rest on their laurels for too long; soon after, they were hard at work in the studio, working on what would eventually become their next album – or rather, mini-album. The eight-track effort (it is not literally being released on 8-track tape, but instead it’s coming out on VHS (!?), along with more traditional physical formats like CD and 12″ vinyl, as well as a download) will be entitled New Relics, and is due in October. The first track to be taken from it is called Relics, and is a dreamy song that has a sort of hazy, almost shoegaze-y texture to it, guided by swirling arpeggiated synths, simple yet effective bass, soaring keyboard lines and vocals. Yep, vocals. They’re back. The band added them to their sound for album number 3, and this time around they are provided by Bek Oliva of Magic Eye, from Edinburgh. They add another dimension to the sound of this blissed-out song; and altogether, our anticipation for New Relics just skyrocketed. This should be on your radar, trust us.
