The Blue Walrus

Introducing: PYYRAMIDS

Sometimes chance meetings can lead to brilliant chemistry. Brought together by a mutual friend, the two people that make up PYYRAMIDS [Twitter/Facebook] (ex-He Say She Say singer Drea Smith and OK Go’s Tim Nordwind) make for an odd pairing, but there’s nothing particularly odd about the music they produce. They’ve already been making waves in the US, and now their debut EP, Human Beings, is set for release here on the 17th of September. It’s a delicious concoction, whose ingredients include icy synth-pop (Perfect Picture), acoustic guitar-led melancholy (‘True love is only a fool’s love, it’s never enough’, claims opening track That Ain’t Right) and some strangely funky moments, like the title track – there’s something about that bassline. The whole thing is available to stream on Soundcloud below, and the first two songs (That Ain’t Right and the wonderfully quirky Don’t Go) can be downloaded for free, if you so desire. You really should, though, because in this case, some of the best things in life really are free. Here’s hoping it’s not too much longer before we hear more from these two.
