Cinnamon Girl – Devil In Me

Yet another storming electro-pop song emerges from Scandinavia, leaving me at a loss to explain how the hell the region’s managing to produce music this accomplished all the time. We’ve been here before, of course, and we’ll be here again, but for now, the video to one of the songs of (what we’ve got left of) the summer is below. It comes courtesy of Camilla Roholm, otherwise known as Cinnamon Girl [Twitter/Facebook], who was born in Denmark but now resides in London. Devil In Me is the sort of song that deserves to tear up the charts; as opposed to the David Guetta-driven assault on dance music that seems to be everywhere these days, CG’s new song is about as authentic as they come. She’s been playing music since she was 3 years old (yep – she got given a ukelele at that age, before moving up to a guitar at the age of 12), and her euphoric new song is full of confidence, utilising huge hooks to dazzling effect, before delivering a stunning chorus that deserves to put her on the same footing as the Robyns and Ladyhawkes of this world. Oh, and did we mention you can download it for free from her Bandcamp? In other words: stop what you’re doing and get on this.
