Halloween may have been and gone but we have a track that is sure to give you goosebumps and chills down your spine. Gray Things, spelled with a “a” not an “e“, is the solo efforts of Mississippi based producer and music experimentalist Thomas Cooper.
Gray Things are one part of the Mississippi based Cats Purring arts and music collective that also happens to include Dent May, Illls and one of my favourite bands Bass Drum Of Death, so I can ensure this are band are in good company.
Coming just off the back of previous single ‘Girl’, Grey Things release ‘I Want It To Live’, a rather chilling and steely contrast to his previous jaunty release. ‘I Want It To Live’ is an intense shrill of hexed synth that is sure to set the hairs on the back of your neck upright while Thomas’s haunting and sunken vocals embed themselves sullenly into the grooves of this sombre psych-pop track. On first listen it’s eerie intensity is somewhat hypnotic and but behind it lies a sense of sinister uncertainty that dissolves between the curious and the unknown, something about it though is rather captivating.
His EP is expected to drop on the 19th November and both the single and EP will be available via Make Mine Records but you lucky readers can stream the track below right now.
