The Blue Walrus

Introducing: Moon Heads

Moon Heads

Nothing grabs my attention faster then a healthy dose of 60’s inspired garage rock, throw in a bit of hazy neo-psychedelia into the mix and my ears will be fully engaged. The latest zesty little gem to tick theses boxes is the psych grooves of Mitch Crook aka Moon Heads.  I wish I could tell you more about this man and his music  but with only a Soundcloud link  attached to an email it was sort of like Alice following the white rabbit down the hole.

On first listens however my curiosity soon turned to fascinated excitement. Wielding some very trippy guitar hooks, drawling vocals and a monstrous bass underlay, Moon Heads conjure up tunes like a psych dream machine. Their spacey melodies are spell bounding if not a hallucinogenic catalyst for a full on rock out.

For fans of Moon Duo and Tame Impala’s bedlam of distorted stoner psychedelic fuzz, Moon head’s most recent offerings “Nuggets” is a spiralling mix of their rugged drone and stellar spaced out jams. Find it below along with the snarly and junked-up “Be My Friend”, which are both available as free downloads.
