Banks and Marika Hackman joint winners of Blog Sound of 2014

Blog Sound of 2014

For the first time ever, the annual Blog Sound poll has come up with two winners with exactly the same number of votes – Banks and Marika Hackman. Yes I know this was actually announced last week, but I wasn’t around and with the BBC about to announce their winners, I thought now would be a good time to publish.

Marika Hackman

Marika Hackman was featured on these pages back in mid-2012, and her unique ethereal stripped-back sound has found its audience over the last year, with remixes by the likes of Sivu helping out.

Banks

Banks made her mark on 2013 with her seductive electronic R&B and masses of style, and alongside winning the Blog Sound of 2014, she came third in the BBC Sound of 2014 poll.
