Whats Good – Playlist for August 2016

What's Good - August 2016

We haven’t shared one of our What’s Good playlists for a while, but if you keep and eye on our 22tracks or Soundcloud streams you’ll know we’re never short on playlists. But for the bank holiday weekend, new music is always a necessity and we’re here to help, with twenty eclectic tracks that have really caught our ears this month.

This month’s playlist is kindly supported by the fine folk at TicketSelect, which finds tickets for your favourite gigs from a variety of online ticket sellers. In the next few days they’ve got gigs listed for the likes of LANY in Glasgow, M. Ward in Manchester, and Primal Scream in London.

Onto the music…

We kicks off proceedings with the beautiful and sleepy sounds of Wild Pink, which eases us into the soulful pop of Charlotte Day Wilson and the sultry sounds of Nilüfer Yanya and Joy Crookes.

TENDER are on hand with some a slow burn R&B groove, before we break in the 80s-influenced Stranger Things vibe of Promises Ltd and Psychic Twin, and synth-led indie pop from Cape Cub.

Jason Nolan provides us with some deliciously cheerful pop, followed up by more of the same from Jagwar Ma.

Two Feet are fuck-you-cool and bring the growling bassline, before we move towards indiepop sounds from Hazel English, and urgent chords from Otis English. Then we have some classic and catchy rock’n’roll from the talents of LVL UP, Miya Folick, and PAPA.

Junior Empire and Keep Shelly in Athens slow things down with some electropop goodness, before Elderbrrok starts to rebuild the groove as we ease into the house sounds of D/R/U/G/S.
