The Blue Walrus

Walrus live: Hopsctoch ft. PLAZA, James Canty & surprise special guest

Hopscotch - September

Last month’s Hopscotch with Laurel and Honey Moon was another raging success, and we’re keeping the momentum going with September’s lineup of PLAZA, James Canty, and another very special guest to be announced – all playing London’s The Social on 19th September.

Hartlepoole-based teenagers PLAZA managed to find support from the likes of Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Radio X with their shoegaze-cum-mathrock debut single Totem back in February. That early success was ollowed up more recently with the similarly intricate even more energetic and confident Blood Orange, with their sound reaching ever more epic and anthemic heights.

Essex-born and Liverpool-based James Canty‘s influences are hard to pin down, with his eclectic sounds varying from the subdued and melancholic Putney Bridge to the space-age pop of Love, or folk-twinged Strangers. Whether you describe his sound as “obscure”, “cinematic”, or even as a “Space Odyssey”, it has left fans across Europe clamouring to hearing some new material soon.

We’ve also got a very special guest to announce a little closer to the date, and with recent Hopscotch nights already selling out fast – if you want to come, better snap up some tickets quickly. Doors at 8pm.
