Stealing Sheep are like the delicate and somewhat unexpected love-child of First Aid Kit and Peggy Sue, and they’re absolutely wonderful. Debut EP ‘What If The Lights Went Out’ is the perfect introduction to this all-girl trio.
I first encountered them live when they played London event ‘A Folking Good Night‘ back in May, and I’m delighted to say that this record is just as brilliant as their sensational live performance.
Their interesting and atmospheric sound is mesmerising, creative and intelligent; the lyrics and vocals are incredibly well thought out, and the instruments and the way they are used provide a unique and beautiful backdrop.
This band come highly recommended from The Blue Walrus (or one quarter of it anyway :D), and I hope to be adding them to the lineup of one of my Folk & Tumble nights this autumn. Until then, buy yourself a copy of the EP and catch up with Stealing Sheep at Warwick Folk Festival next weekend.
