Late last Sunday afternoon at Secret Garden Party, I was lucky enough to be among the many sitting in The Living Room tent when wonderful singer-songwriter Ethan Ash graced its stage. The charismatic and impressive young man has an unexpectedly big voice, and won the audience over from the offset, passing Jelly Babies around the crowd in one of the most down to earth audience-artist exchanges I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing.
Ethan travelled through a fantastic set of quirky and catchy acoustic numbers that are talent-filled, humble and interesting. Highlights included ‘Derelict’ and ‘Take Some Time’, two tunes which reveal Ethan’s brilliant vocal quality that would put the likes of Damien Rice and James Morrison to shame.
Keeping with the feel of the festival perfectly, Ethan Ash created a positive atmosphere and delivered a gorgeous set – the only fault being that it ended. I look forward to hearing much more from Ethan in the months to come…
