When Jack White isn’t busy letting Radiohead record at his studio or releasing his own music, like the fantastic Blunderbuss solo album from earlier this year, he puts out stuff from other artists on impressive/ridiculous vinyl formats. We wonder what he’s going to be doing with this new song from Willy Moon, the video for which can be viewed below. Railroad Track is going to be released on Third Man Records on August 20th, and its clip was filmed in Nashville a little while back. The song itself is quite a surprising listen indeed – a shade over two minutes long, it combines choral vocals with a brilliantly soulful performance from Moon himself, not to mention a propulsive hip-hop beat and a chorus that’s so huge that it can barely be contained. It’s difficult to classify, too, mixing blues, gospel and R&B into something fresh and vibrant. It’s being put out with a b-side, too – chances are it’ll be every bit as inventive as this.
