Anybody who has had the pleasure of seeing the lovely Alessi Laurent-Marke grace a stage will agree that there’s a beautiful, childlike and genuine innocence about Alessi’s Ark when she performs live. Last week’s show at Norwich Arts Centre was no exception.
Sharing the headline spot with fellow folkie Emily Jane White, in the gorgeous converted-church setting of Norwich Arts Centre, Alessi delivered a stunning and intimate set of material, old and new, to an appreciative audience. Her whimsical and otherworldly musical offerings were stripped down to their acoustic glory for this heartwarming solo set.
A recent signing to the infamous independent label Bella Union, Alessi’s second album is due for release early next year. Until then, you can grab a copy of her latest EP ‘Soul Proprieter’ here and a copy of her debut ‘Notes From The Treehouse’ (produced by Mike Mogis, of Bright Eyes fame) here.
