It’s been a long time since I last put together a mixtape here on the ‘ole Walrus, which is a shame as mixtapes were actually what I started this blog about back in those heady days of 2006. We’ve done various series of compilations over the years, but one of the most popular continued to be Summer Days Through The Folkish Haze which were full of folk-twinged summery goodness. Well… I think Summer Daze is somewhat of a continuation of that series – which would now be up to vol.4 – except that I’ve moved away from folk towards summer jams from across the board. We’ve got some soft acoustics from Eddi Front and Alice Jemima, some rich glorious pop from MS MR, Noosa, and Haim, upbeat summer indie from PEERS and Being There and oh so much more.
Have a listen to the streams below or head on to the bottom of the page for the download link to grab the mp3s. This is an Olympic summer here in London, and I thought it was about time it was soundtracked properly.
Here’s the tracklist:
01. Eddi Front – Gigantic
02. Alice Jemima – SAFE/PAIN ([Strangers] cover)
03. Cook Norman Blaze – Danser Sans Pieds
04. All We Are – Cardhouse
05. Mr Little Jeans – Suburbs (Arcade Fire cover)
06. Conner Youngblood – Gold
07. MS Mr – Hurricane
