You have to hand it to the French for putting Sebastien Tellier on Eurovision and throwing a decent tune at the competition back in 2008. He may not have won but anything that will get his music in front of more people can only be good news.
The man himself is back with the last 12″ release from the wonderful Sexuality in the form of Fingers of Steel/L’Amour et La Violence EP, which you can pick up looking pretty on pink vinyl. Now Fingers of Steel is good tune with the chilled out electric French thing going on, and the Hypnolove remix adds some strings and plays with the dynamics of the tune nicely giving it a more grand spacious feel but L’Amour et La Violence is where I’m really loving this release.
The original is a beautiful ballad with calming synth phases and arpeggios and probably my favourite track off the album, and then Boys Noize have turned in into an absolute fucking element of dancefloor destruction. They keep the soothing vocals but throw in a beat, distortion and a sense of urgency that will make you sit right up and take notice. We’ve got that Boys Noize remix for download here as well as the Acid Washed mix which takes the track in another different direction throwing in some safari sounds behind a pace that sits roughly between the other two as a more defined, slower and darker electro groove but constantly twisting and turning. All fucking perfect.
