I first heard Organ Donor and Building Steam with a Grain of Salt back over a decade ago, but even then it was pretty obvious to my young impressionable ears that there was a real talent in DJ Shadow (MySpace). Josh Davis hasn’t rested on his laurels though and on top of producing some critically acclaimed albums over the years he has built up a community of budding remixers and producers over at DJShadow.com – and now he is giving them some great exposure by giving away a 17 track CD of his favourite remixes of his work for free with each purchase in his store.

In the words of DJ Shadow himself “I love this cd, more than I ever dreamed I would… In many cases, new life has been breathed into songs I had long-since resigned to the past, and made them fresh again. You WILL hear these mixes in future shows, and that’s the strongest endorsement I can give as a DJ”.

This, people, is a way to maintain your community and roots in this internet age – and deserves a mention for that as well as the impressive skills shown by his community members on the tracks.
