Brighton has long been renowned for giving birth to some of the UK’s best upcoming music, whether it be indie guitar bands or, as in this case, beautiful folk ditties courtesy of the Willkommen Collective. The latest offering from Brighton’s cutting-edge seaside Collective is the truly wonderful Laish.
Made up of musicians from all ends of all things Willkommen – from Curly Hair to Sons of Noel & Adrian – and fronted by the effortlessly creative and distinctively-voiced Danny Green, it seems more than appropriate to conclude that these guys are destined for greatness, and deservedly so. The music is genuine, passion-filled, fierce and beautiful; what more could you possibly wish for?
Already NME accredited (“Best Live Band Seen This Week….electro-folk innovators….Daniel Green’s sublime vocals…honest soulful and gimmick free”) and fresh from a tremendous support slot supporting Grizzly Bear at London’s Legendary Roundhouse venue, the band release their debut album on November 15th through Willkommen Records.
Prior to their upcoming release, the band have been kind enough to drop us an exclusive MP3 to share with you – the lovelier than lovely ‘In The Morning’, which can be found above.
Also check out their brilliant session with Songs From The Shed below.
Just so you know, dear readers, we love Songs From The Shed. Passionately. I’d quite like to see little metaphorical shed-walrus babies running around holding rainbow-coloured banjos in the future. Expect more of the Shed’s videos joining us on The Blue Walrus, and shameless plugging of their wonderful work.
