I’ve made no secret of my excitement about Manchester’s The Heartbreaks in the past, but today they’re back with what I think is my favourite song of theirs yet in Jealous, Don’t You Know.

It’s a little less depressive and reminiscent of The Smith, and a little more jangly pop, but with all the same swagger and emotive drive of their previous releases, with the soaring catchy vocal melody front and centre. And then they’ve gone and got remixed by Hurts who strip out the rattling drums and wrapping the song in distorted synths taking the song in a completely different direction – adding an almost cinematic claustrophobia in keeping with the lyrical theme.
