Our Joe Bloggers showcase tonight and we have one more artist to profile in advance of the doors opening at 7.30pm, and that is Cosmo Jarvis (Facebook). His sound is delicious mix of pop, funk, blues – a little hard to pin down, but every song abounds with energy and enthusiasm.
His second album is on the way, but I’ve been distracted by his latest Sure As Hell Not Jesus EP which demonstrates is rather impressive pop-writing abilities in the way only 4-song EPs can.
The title track is a summery, cheery piece delight of a pop tune that offers sing-along choruses and foot-tapping rhythms – catchy as fuck then.
My favourite on the EP, however, is What’s Wrong With Betty (Part 1) which starts off with a rock 70s-esque crescendo before throwing in a little bluegrass and folk behind a strong indie beat reminding me of Larrikin Love. And apparently the Part 1 is in reference to What’s Wrong With Betty being a 4-part opus – so here’s me looking forward to hearing the other three.
Want to here Cosmo live? Pop down to Dingwalls, Camden tonight – doors at 7.30pm.
