It’s going to be an exciting few weeks for 65daysofstatic (facebook/twitter) fans, that’s for sure. There is a new song available for free download (below); ‘Burial Scene’ is piano-driven and breathtakingly beautiful, sounding a bit like a lost song from the sessions for ‘The Destruction of Small Ideas’. It’s suitably cinematic, and indeed, it’s taken from their film score for ‘Silent Running’, which arrives on November 14th.

Before that, though Paul Wolinski is unleashing his debut solo album under the Polinski (facebook/twitter) moniker; ‘Labyrinths’ is due on October 31st, and I can say with confidence that anyone who enjoyed last year’s ‘We Were Exploding Anyway’ is going to adore it. There is an album mix doing the rounds, consisting of all seven songs, and a cut from the album itself was released for free download recently (both are below). ‘Tangents’ could be called the polar opposite to his band’s latest offering; while also piano-driven, it’s much more energetic and almost full-on danceable – though it is mostly in 5/4, so good luck with that, as odd time signatures and dancing don’t usually mix.
