I always take pleasure in introducing Irish bands to a larger audience, and I’m particularly pleased to be writing about We Cut Corners [Facebook/Twitter] today, because it just so happens that I’m going to see them support The Maccabees tomorrow. They are also main support to the rather excellent Delorentos, who are playing just five minutes away from me on Saturday March 10th. So I just happen to be seeing them twice in little over a week. Win. Up above is the video for Toll Free, which is the current single – and I guess it’s the lead single for the UK, who won’t be getting the record until the summer – from Today I Realised I Could Go Home Backwards, the rather brilliant debut album from the Dublin duo, which was released on these shores back in November. Getting a lot of mileage out of its two-minutes-and-change running time, the song is an absolute delight, and I’m pleased to report that no corners were cut in the making of the video. If you like what you hear (and you should), you can stream the album in its entirety on Bandcamp. Get on it.
