Mt. Wolf (twitter) produce songs that are on the darker side of folktronica, giving nods to both those pioneers of electronic folk, Tunng, and the darker more sinister sounds of city living. The band used to be known as Solar State (thanks Saam), but have started afresh under a new name and under the banner of “dream folk”.
Here with their demos, Life Size Ghosts shows their softer side, a soothing isolated beauty, whilst Underground is darker and oppressive, with a nod to the bass heavy sounds of dubstep. This is the two sides of this urban life of ours – the beauty and the fear.
Thanks to Chris for the tip, and as luck would have it he’s putting on a live show with them on tonight at Catch.
