It was a couple of summers ago that we were all a flutter about Jai Paul and his perfect demo, BTSU. It was so perfect in fact, that XL snapped him up and he’s been working on new material since – and we are finally getting to hear the results of those labours (outside of some radio rips) with Jasmine.
It’s a smooth jam, as you would expect from the twenty-something Londoner – a pulsating groove and soft-focused vocals. A slow-fuck delight.

Really hoping that the album he releases on XL isn’t too polished as I think part of his appeal is in the soft ferocity he brings to the demos
I couldn’t agree more – it’s his production that makes the whole sounds so exciting. XL are known for giving their artists a lot of freedom though, so I’ve got high hopes!
