I have to ask: is there something in the water up around Scandinavia? The region just seems to be churning out great band after great band; this absolute gem of a song has become one of my favourite songs of the year already. It All Starts Now is the title track off the new EP (streaming below) from Foreign Slippers [Twitter/Facebook], a Swedish folk-pop group led by Gabi Froden, and it heralds the arrival of debut album Farewell to the Old Ghosts, which will be unleashed upon the UK in June. The video for the song, which was unveiled earlier today, is a delight, full of striking images of all kinds. Oh, and some shoes. Slippers, foreign or otherwise, do not feature. The clip is rather creative, and this is perfectly in keeping with the band’s aesthetic. I have an album promo on the way, and it is a special ‘illustrated, build-your-own’ copy. I’m not entirely certain what that could entail, but, much like its creator, it sounds exciting as hell.
