Don’t ask us what exactly is going on in the above video, because we couldn’t tell you. All we’re sure about is that it mainly involves some festival action and some jarring editing techniques. Oh, and all this is intercut with Super Best Friends Club [Bandcamp/Facebook] performing their new single. Yes You Are is reminiscent of Feels-era Animal Collective, which is to say it is by no means immediate but is extremely rewarding. The polyrhythmic nature of the song and its three-note piano hook combine to make it nothing short of mesmerising. It follows on rather quickly from (and is quite a different beast to) People We Forget This Is Love, released… er, last month. They don’t hang around, it seems, and the new material would seem to be their most accessible to date. We were tipped off about them a short while ago, and even if, to borrow from this song, listening to the EP wasn’t ‘the most amazing feeling ever’, it was pretty spectacular all the same. SBFC will not be for everyone, but are we now hooked? Yes we are.
