One of the best videos of the year is below, and it comes from a most unexpected place indeed. On its own, Cut Fast, which acts as the UK’s introduction to Australia’s Rapids [Twitter/Facebook] comes across as a searingly intense song, grabbing the listener by the throat and refusing to let them go for its duration, getting a lot more done in two minutes than most bands would manage with four; but when coupled with with its black-and-white, vivid video, this intensity is increased tenfold, and the striking clip, cinematic in scope and perfectly executed, really helps the band to make their mark. Their new EP is out next month and is entitled Holland Air; our guess is that is lead track is merely the tip of the iceberg, because a band with ambitions as lofty as this lot really should have the skills to back them up. We’ll be keeping a close eye on Rapids in the future, and you’d do well to do the same, as Cut Fast could be the start of something brilliant.
