It’s not typical of us to begin articles on negative notes, but those of you who were eagerly awaiting The Chevin’s [Twitter/Facebook] debut album will now have to wait another few weeks. Originally slated for an August release, Borderland now arrives on September 3rd. To tide you over, though, there is a new single on the way. It’s called Blue Eyes, and you can watch the new video below. It’s a great choice for second single, following on from Drive, which we posted about a while back, and hints at the Leeds band delivering one of the best pop-rock debuts of the year. Coyle Girelli’s vocals are once again impossible to be completely dazzled by, and the song, more reserved than its predecessor, shows a different side to the band, yet one that is no less infectious. We have no doubt that you’ll be singing along to the stirring chorus before you know it, and for these purveyors of focused, direct songs, that’s mission accomplished. Two great singles point towards the album being of similar quality – this doesn’t always turn out to be the case, but we’re convinced The Chevin can pull it off.
