The wheels are starting to turn for Dog Is Dead [Twitter/Facebook]in earnest, now that their debut album finally has a release date. It’s still a little over two months away, of course (being pencilled in for the 8th of October), but the band have released a number of songs in the last few weeks. The most recent single was a reworked Glockenspiel Song, and then they leaked Any Movement, which is streaming below, along with the second official single from All Our Favourite Stories, an absolute gem of a song called Talk Through the Night, which, in the words of the band themselves, is ‘an ode to the anti-cool, our homage to friendship and not giving a shit’. Its bouncy, carefree attitude backs up this statement: Dog Is Dead may not be the ‘coolest’ of bands, but the new song showcases an exuberance and enthusiasm that some of their contemporaries would do terrible things for. It works very well as a single, and will no doubt have even more impact in album context. They’re not short on ambition, either – the song sounds huge. More of that on the album, please.
