Ed’s note – We are starting to move into doing some videos and live sessions with bands at festivals this summer, and sent Nick & Lorna to T in the Park for the Saturday as a warm up before they start doing the videos.
We arrived and where escorted straight through to the media village which was to be our HUB for the duration of our day. Sometime after us arriving and taking a look around the site, the gates opened to release a flood of people running from the horizon towards the main stage. The first act we caught of the day where The Fratellis, who recently have returned after being away for some time now. The crowd welcomed them with open arms and they danced and sang word for word as the band performed most of their hits from their debut album Costello Music as well as songs from their second album Here We Stand. The band where a pleasant start to the festival day and well worth checking out if you get the chance.
The crowd where next greeted by another Scottish act Deacon Blue who again have came back after sometime away, also had the crowd under their arms as they performed a string of classic hits including their much loved hit Dignity. We caught up with them just after they came off the main stage and they commented to us how it was great to be back after being away for so long, as to play to a 65,00 crowd strong was a very nice welcome.
Away from the main stage, highlights from around the festival included Waiting For Go and Lucy Spraggan both playing to a packed T-Break Stage. Two other great additions that where on the bill where Twin Atlantic and Palma Violets who both played fantastic crowds in King Tuts Wah Wah Hut tent.
Although Saturday’s main headline act was Rihanna, our ultimate highlight of the day has to be The Script (Ed’s note – very surprised!) who played to an enormous crowd on the main stage Saturday evening. The band where exceptional to our surprise. Their energy and love for the Scottish crowd, mixed great weather and their catalogue of songs, of which every single one had the crowd singing along too word for word, made for a great show.
T in the Park turns 21 next year and this year is anything to go by, you will not want to miss out.
