Blue Walrus favourite Cook Norman Blaze aka Andres Galvan (Twitter/Facebook) is back once again with his latest project O3. Perfectly overlapping in time with the lush and tropical weather we are experiencing on our small isle at the moment. No better soundtrack could blend so flawlessly with the relaxed vibes of the summer sun and the chilled out haze of this debut EP.
This five track EP is a mix of mellow mid tempo beats, instrumental loops and experimental remixes. Self produced by the man himself this EP is a laid back blend of sound. Falling heavily in the middle and rippling with slow motion funk the over all mood is a chilled affair.
Those dreamy ethereal soundwaves that are so familiar to Cook Norman Blazes sound creep into this new and exciting project. “ScatterMore” carries a loose smooth ambient lull with drips of tight electronic beats over the top before cruising into the heavy hip hop based loops of “Bo’m Sou 2 Bò” (CNB DjonDjon Flip). Slowing the tempo down into pristine and industrial sounds cape. “LaLuna’s Lullaby” bring a harsh and baggy feel to the middle of this record rooting in a darkly atmospheric sonic sound.
“U Remind Me” see’s Andes remix Ushers RnB hit balled, heating up the vocals and added a mechanical pulse over the tracks base. This once again reminds us that Andres has a great talent for altering and adapting songs to a new level of richness and originality. This was shown previously in the EP’s standout track the ever so cool summertide remix of Corrine Bailey Ray’s “Put Your Records On” which we previewed on The Blue Walrus last year.
Released on the 13th July and you can stream and buy it via the Soundcloud and Bandcamp page.
