I’m always one for a bit of mystery, and when something arrives in your inbox with a backstory of being brought up on the streets of Brazilian favelas by some street musicians then that is always going to pique my interest, whether there is any truth behind it or not.
Welcome to Nudist, the person behind the music, who has now apparently eventually jumped ship from the favelas to the UK, where he lives with his synthesizers and his cat.
More important to us really, however, is the music, and Nudist’s upbeat soulful electronic pop is just perfect for the heatwave and thunderstorms that we’re currently seeing. Always with a strong beat, and doused with a touch of magic, Nudist’s Favela EP is a statement of intent, a display of his talents, and proof that the soul of electronica is not only in slow jams.
And here’s his darker, gospel-influenced glitch side…
