For the first time ever, the annual Blog Sound poll has come up with two winners with exactly the same number of votes – Banks and Marika Hackman. Yes I know this was actually announced last week, but I wasn’t around and with the BBC about to announce their winners, I thought now would be a good time to publish.
Marika Hackman
Marika Hackman was featured on these pages back in mid-2012, and her unique ethereal stripped-back sound has found its audience over the last year, with remixes by the likes of Sivu helping out.
Banks
Banks made her mark on 2013 with her seductive electronic R&B and masses of style, and alongside winning the Blog Sound of 2014, she came third in the BBC Sound of 2014 poll.
