Conner Youngblood – Confidence
Last year, after long talks with a number of labels, it looked like Conner Youngblood was finally going to get his music heard by a wider audience, but as with many things in life, the plans never quite came together.
Despite this setback, this does mean that rather than being locked away in a studio for months on end and being pushed to finish an album, he can now produce songs that matter to him on his own time – and in Confidence we’re starting to see the fruits of his labour.
This is the first of three songs by the multi-instrumentalist in which he loses, searches for, and rediscovers his confidence, something often overlooked but central to any artist that opens their soul and lets the world peer in.
Confidence was one of my favourite tracks when I saw’s Conner play live on his brief tour of the UK last year in a very intricate demonstration of the layering possible with samplers and enough talent as he mesmerised the room. Beautiful as ever.
