We’ve done a fair few summer mixtapes over the years, with our Summer Days Through the Folkish Haze series pretty popular, so when the fine folks at Mixradio asked me to put together a mix of some of my favourite tunes this summer to be highlighted on their app, I was happy to oblige.
The sun is out here in London, and if there is ever a time to have a chill-out and make good use of our urban space this is it. If you’re on Windows Phone then grab the Mixradio app to listen to this playlist and save it to your phone for offline listening for free, or for those on other devices you can stream it directly from the Mixradio store.
Onto the music…
We start off with the understated ethereal acoustic beauty of Annie Eve before moving into the understated sounds of Amber States and then push the vibe a little more upbeat with sunshine pop from Happyness.
Famy should keep your foot tapping before the energetic release of Wolf Alice and the shimmering indie-pop of Arthur Beatrice and gleeful pop of The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.
Wampire then thunders in and Bird casts their spell before Lana Del Rey adds a little dirty glamour to proceedings.
Hozier introduces the gospel influence and FTSE, Kwabs, and SOHN bring the electronica and bassline growl.
LANY is all about the summer synth stabs, and Glass Animals and Noosa let you loose in a sun-kissed dreams.
RAC brings back with the beat and Bipolar Sunshine and Manou will put a smile on your face as Panama ups the tempo.
Chet Faker then brings the groove and we end on a high with Museum of Bellas Artes and Jungle.
