Turboweekend are Danish. This can mean one of two things; either they will fall under the wheels of their own self-imposed cool or they will create music of such utter class that you forget what sadness is. I wouldn’t be writing this if it was the former.
The 4 man alternative-electro-dance-pop outfit (it is a real genre, I promise) effortlessly blend all the associated tropes (phat bass, metric drums, and the sweetest vocal in all of Scandinavia) in such refreshing combinations that I’m left swaying ecstatically long after the cymbals end. My hands raw from clapping; blood in my shoes. It’s a travesty that the wider world is yet to catch on. Let’s sort it out, shall we.
Luckily we live in exciting times as the band is about to drop their 4th LP on us from a great, great height; releasing the single ‘Miles and Miles’ to whet our appetites. It’s sinuous triplet pulse and jagged bass steadily ushering in the rich vocal imagery of Silas Bjerregaard. Liquid synths being all liquidy. It’s a fine starting point from which to explore their diverse and enriching catalogue whilst we wait on the impending newness.
