The Blog Sound of 2015 longlist has been announced, revealing UK bloggers’ favourite bands and artists of the moment (including mine!). The possibilities of commercial success doesn’t have any effect on this list, which gives it a slightly different feel than some other polls around this time of year.
In total, 148 acts were nominated by the 62 bloggers involved in the poll, which is considered a companion to the BBC Sound of 2015 poll. Each blogger nominating three acts in order of preference, with the acts including both major label acts and unsigned ones.
Only one of my picks made the list – any guesses as to who that might be? I will be revealing my other two picks along with some other acts to watch over the next 12 months when the results are revealed on 2 January.
The UK’s music blogosphere is as diverse as the music our little island produces, but sadly the annual blog poll doesn’t appear to reflect that diversity as well as it could. We may not cover hip hop on these pages, but there are plenty of other blogs that doe – however, while they were asked to join the poll, few seem to want to be involved and that skews the poll results a little. Hopefully next year we’ll address that a little better next time.
Anyway, onto the music…
