Iconic rum-maker Sailor Jerry has produced a rebellious new short film set to the soundtrack of Iggy & The Stooges and revelling in a life outside the lines.
The film celebrates the alternative scene of Southern California – the skateboarding, the tattoos, the booze and the fuck you attitude of rebellion. It’s a scene that has defined the area in popular culture for decades and has personified the innovation and independent spirit of the father of old-school tattooing, Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins.
Interspersed with classic clips of muscle cars and motorbikes jumping through rings of flames, the film showcases the real people of Southern California – bikers and bar goers with sleeve tattoos who break into an empty swimming pool to skate and dance in the darkness. No actors – just a celebration of those that choose to make up their own rules.
A live recording of Iggy & The Stooges ‘TV Eye’ soundtracks the film, and comes from a record in ‘Fun House’ that defined much of the punk rock that came after it. Iggy & The Stooges were the sound of rebellion in the 1970s and those screams, riffs, and thundering drums are reminiscent of a life outside the lines.
This campaign also marks the recent collaboration with independent rock and style icon, Iggy Pop, for ‘The Flash Collection by Iggy Pop’, a range of limited edition clothing made up of denim vest, a hand tooled leather belt and Sailor Jerry Flash patches.
