Walrus favourite Jens Kuross is back with another delicate and beautiful track in the form of ‘I Only Ever Loved Your Ghost’.
On the stripped back song, Kuross is on introspective form, examining his personal struggles and the search for the idea of fictional concept of romance and missing the opportunity for love that is right in front of you.
It’s the first song to be released from upcoming project Art! At The Expense Of Mental Health – Vol. 1, the first part of a three-album project planned for release throughout the year. Explaining the project, Kuross said: “I suppose I wanted a title for the album that was as devoid of poetry as I could manage. I’m really not interested in trying to sell anything I do or create as particularly elegant or sexy and I like a title that reflects that. Even though I’m out to write beautiful and sophisticated music, I’m so flawed, and my process is such a struggle, that some elegant, mellifluous tittle would just seem dishonest. So the sentiment, while perhaps a little hyperbolic, feels right on the money from a creator’s perspective. And also, if you live in the trenches of this business long enough it becomes apparent what a steep cost artists can sometimes pay for a little honest creativity.”
