The fragility of Alice Boman‘s debut Skisser EP has made it one of my favourite releases of the year, and having heard her perform recently with a 22-piece orchestra for The Coveryard has only cemented those feelings.
As it was the stripped back nature of the recordings that made me fall in love with her songs, I was not sure how I would get on with the remix EP that her label Adrian Recordings has just released. Fear not, however, the remixes have captured the ethereal beauty of the originals.
The 1987 remix of has gone heavy on the reverb and layering with Waiting, making the whole song sound as if it was formed in a beautiful electronic church. But my favourite is the stuttering warmth that Summer Heart has brought to Skiss 2 – it is utterly stunning. In fact, once Kalter’s remix of Waiting gets going that is pretty amazing as well!
