We continue our series of mixtapes today with some new to listen to, lie back and relax (and yes we might have called it a chill out mix back ’05). SO if you’ve just got back from a festival, press play and let your soul be soothed.
As always we’re focusing on new bands and artists, so go and explore more of their material on SoundCloud and Bandcamp after you’ve got a taste for it here.
This week’s playlist has been made with the support of VictoriaPlum.com, which offers just the sort of baths you want to be soaking in when listening to this mix. They also offer all kinds of bathroom and bedroom furniture, and currently have a sale on – so check them out.
Onto the music…
We start off proceedings with Morly‘s Seraphese, which has remained one of my most played tracks for the last few weeks with its deep bass, skittish beats, and beautiful piano.
Walrus favourite Chet Faker follows up with the sumptuous Killswitch, filled with it its soulful vocals and sonic reverses.
Endless String from London’s Hilang Child is mesmerisingly simple, with both the vocals and piano chords bathed reverb and thundering atmosphere.
Shura‘s White Light was a disco gem in its own right, but Mt. Wolf have stripped out the four-to-the-floor beats and given more room to breath amongst an acoustic guitar, exchanging the dancefloor for fragility.
Keep Shelly in Athens bring in the talents on Ocean Hope on Now I’m Ready, which slowly builds a beat from the washes of atmosphere.
Haunt and then GENTS bring a moody 80s electronic vibe, before Bipolar Sunshine and Jazz Purple team up for a cover of Post Malone’s already stunning White Iverson.
Chinah‘s We Go Back is a slice of soothing pop perfection, while Ritual‘s Amnesia Rmx featuring Bishop Nehru is the smoothest of smooth honest R&B.
The mellow sounds of Howling raises the BPM, before we close the mixtape with the four minutes of bliss that is Elderbrook‘s cool-as-all-hell groove Good Enough.
