Music is an escape for us all, but few know that as well as Berlin-based musician Edges, who has turned to the songwriting process as his form of travelling and experiencing the world.

The German capital may be better known for its electronic scene, but for Edges, known to his friends as Sami Simon, it has provided the inspiration and backdrop for his own melancholic alt-folk.

On his debut track, Walk Away, Edges opens stripped back to just his vocals and a strumming acoustic guitar, before the sweeping drums and near country electric twangs come in to tell of a story – a personal journey through the sadness and hope of life.
